This is the most beautiful timeless floral eau de parfum with hint of rose and violet. The sort of smell that lingers and lasts all day. People will stop and compliment you. I use a quick squirt on my outfit near my chest in the morning. Been wearing this for the last 35 years and never get tired of it or those around me. I hope its around as long as I am. It is me and I will never change. The eau de toilette and eau de cologne strength dont smell the same and cannot be compared not worth purchasing.

This is totally different than the Rive Gauche I wore for decades. I hadnt purchased it for several years because so many people have allergies to fragrance and my work kept me in very close contact with others. With the current covid19 restrictions, sheltering in place provided the perfect opportunity to gift myself with what was the most beautiful fragrance I had ever worn. How disappointed I am. All I smell is very strong soap….nothing even close to the original fragrance. I was not aware the formula had been changed or I would never have ordered it without being able to smell it first.

I hadnt purchased it for several years because so many people have allergies to fragrance and my work kept me in very close contact with others. With the current covid19 restrictions, sheltering in place provided the perfect opportunity to gift myself with what was the most beautiful fragrance I had ever worn. How disappointed I am. I used to use the Yves St Laurent Black Opium fragrance for women, but the scent started to change the longer I had it thus began the quest for another scent. In the fragrance section of the store, I tried every fragrance not even thinking I had merged into the mens colognes, but this it Its a very neutral fragrance and its very sensual. I think this fragrance is great for men and women alike. I try not to use it after Ive showered with a fruity body wash because I dont want the scents to mingle. Ive had the 2oz for quite a while now and while I was afraid I wouldnt be able to use it all before the scent changed its actually almost gone but smells like when I first bought it The fragrance really hasnt shifted or spoiled like my previous womens perfumes. The scent is really hard to describe its almost like a muskvanillafloral scent, almost a combination of a mens and womens fragrance. Its great to spritz on my pillowsheets and I spray some on my hairbrush to comb through while my hair is wet. Feel really attractive when I wear this and it smells so good Ill be sniffing the collar of my shirt all day when I put it on. Dont smell like an overpowering perfume cloud either, which sometimes happens with perfumes highly recommend this for men and for women. A huge plus is the cost too its sooooooo much less expensive than Black Opium, and comes in 4 sizes rather than 1 or 2. Will be buying this again.

Love this fragrance. I first purchased it when I was 18 and have never stopped loving it. It used to cost almost a weeks wages 30 years ago. I am so glad I can purchase it now for much less. I always have a bottle on hand. I store it in its original box. It is a metal decanter not glass as most fragrances are so it is very light to carry, and wont break if you drop it. Classic Decanter Design so identifiable The smell is divine and very long lasting on me. I absolutely adore Rive Gauche… makes me feel like I am in Paris again.

I first was exposed to this scent in 1973 my best friends mother wore it. I made it my own and have been wearing it ever since. I, like many others, feel the complete line should be brought back I really miss the lotion, parfum, and would love the powder.
