Ive not used Clarins products for about 10 years. Before that, I was a faithful customer. Thought it was time to return. Used the website advisor to choose a nightcream. I think its allocated by age rather than actual skin need but in any event, it was recommended I try this. I have dry cheeks and normal skin elsewhere on my face. Im menopausal and with that came heightened sensitivity to preservatives, additives, perfume etc. I didnt think that Id react to Clarins so badly. After the first night, my cheeks were drier than normal. During the second night I woke up with tight uncomforable skin which had started peeling by the morning. The rest of my face wasnt too impressed with the product either. I thought it had quite a strong, acidic perfume which I didnt like.Glad it works for other. Im not a fan at all. A very expensive mistake.

While trite to state, before desiring any targeted anti aging solutions all customers want a moisturizer to moisturize and replenish skin after cleansing. My skin has certainly become drier as I advance in my 40s but I would not characterize it as very dry. Unfortunately the new normal dry formula in this line did literally nothing for my skin. I had to return it. While I am not a cosmetics chemist or formula expert there appear to be significant formula changes to the two normal dry formulas, new and old, shown here. Clarins has added the leaf of life extract as well as some new plant ingredients to hydraessential normal dry to ostensibly help skin retain moisture while removing sodium hyaloronate and sodium pca, ingredients known to actually raise the water conent in the skin, as well as several other previous plant ingredients, which likely had their own beneficial effects. I suspect clarins has unnecessarily messed with a good thing. Id hate to think its for cost saving reasons. I am now using a sample amount of the very dry and more emollient formula which when put on at night leaves no greasy feel whatsoever by morning. My skin is more comfortable and more moisturized than with the normal dry formula. Is it more hydrated though Im not sure. In general if youre someone whos more mature and has skin wanting hydration, normal dry didnt do it for me so Id be wary of that choice. Id try the very dry formula first. Clarins, if youre reading, please take note.

I got this product as a sample. Thought it was quite good so I bought it. Its more expensive than I would usually pay but you only need a small amount so it does go a long way. Then was given a tester of the extra firming mask. Loved that to and after using both the mask and beauty balm together the results were amazing. As I dont wear make up I found the result brilliant. You have to try it for yourself so get some testers first. I dont think you will be disappointed. I think they are deffininatley worth the money as you only need a small amount with great results facial skin pores closed immediately which made my skin look so much younger
